Rava privacy policy
Last updated 1 October 2026
Rava is an offline learning app for Zimbabwe's O' Level syllabus, made by an independent
developer. This page says what Rava keeps, where, and why. The short version: your learning
stays on your phone. Rava has no accounts, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking. The only
time anything leaves the phone is when you pay for a subject.
What stays on your phone
- The name you give (optional), the subjects and form you choose, and your theme.
- Your learning: lessons opened and finished, answers, mistakes, study time, bookmarks and
revision plan.
- When your free week started, and which subjects you have unlocked and until when.
None of this is sent to Rava. It may be included in your phone's own backup (for example Google's
device backup) if you have that switched on; that is between you and your phone's backup service.
Uninstalling Rava or clearing its data deletes it.
What is sent when you pay
Paying for a subject, or restoring a subject you paid for, sends the following to Rava's payment
server:
- Your install ID, a ten-character code shown in Rava's Store. It is worked out
from an identifier Android gives each app on each phone, so it identifies this copy of Rava on
this phone and nothing else. Access you buy is tied to it, which is why a code bought for one
phone does not work on another.
- The subject and, for EcoCash or OneMoney, the method and your mobile
number.
- For a Google Play subscription, the purchase token Google Play gives Rava, so
the server can ask Google whether the subscription is real and paid up. Google's reply says
which subscription it is and until when; it does not include your name, email or card.
Your mobile number is passed to Paynow so that the payment prompt can be sent to your phone. Rava
does not store it. To stop the same number receiving prompts over and over, Rava keeps a
one-way scrambled form of it for ten minutes, from which the number cannot be read back.
Rava's server keeps:
- a record of each payment (install ID, subject, amount, method and whether it went through),
deleted automatically after 7 days;
- for each install ID and subject, the date it is paid up to, so that paying again adds a month
and a paid month can be restored after reinstalling;
- for a Google Play subscription, the install IDs it has been used on, under a one-way
scrambled form of the purchase token, until about two months after the subscription ends;
- for about two hours, a count of payments started, and of subscriptions checked, from each
internet address, to stop misuse.
The server runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests to it as Rava's hosting provider.
Payment providers
EcoCash and OneMoney payments are processed by Paynow, and Google Play purchases by
Google. They receive what they need to take the payment, under their own privacy
policies. Rava never sees your PIN, card or wallet details.
Access codes sent by message
If you buy access by WhatsApp or another message, you send Rava your install ID and Rava sends
back a code. That conversation is kept only as long as needed to give you the access you paid for
and to help if something goes wrong.
Learners under 18
Rava is made for secondary school learners. It asks for no age, email, contact list, location or
photos, and has no way for learners to talk to anyone. A parent or guardian may ask about, or ask
Rava to delete, anything held about their child's install ID.
Your choices
- You can use Rava's free lessons without ever sending anything.
- To ask what Rava's server holds for your install ID, or to have it deleted, write to
edenaxis1@gmail.com with the install ID from Rava's Store. Deleting the
paid-up date means a paid month can no longer be restored.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
